February 25 (Renewables Now) - UK battery storage owner and operator Zenobe Energy Ltd on Monday said it will supply a 2-MW battery storage system for a wastewater treatment facility of United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) in the UK.

The energy storage system will be installed at the Clifton Marsh wastewater treatment works in Preston, Lancashire, where it will be connected to a 1.28-MW solar power facility. Zenobe will finance, install and operate the batter system under a 15-year contract. The battery is expected to be operational in May.

This is the first time Zenobe's technology will be used in the UK water sector. The agreement comes as the sector is looking to reach zero net carbon emissions by 2030.
