April 4 (Renewables Now) - The 10-MW Echauffour wind farm built by Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) in France’s Normandy region has become operational, the French renewable energy company announced on Thursday.

Echauffour’s five wind turbines of 2 MW each, installed in the region’s Orne department, started spinning and producing their first MWh less than a year since the construction began, the company said.

Voltalia’s revenue stream from the wind farm’s production has been secured with a contract for difference (CfD) with a term of 15 years.

Echauffour is Voltalia’s first wind farm in Normandy and it will contribute to the regional target of reaching 340 MW of installed capacity by 2020.
