January 16 (Renewables Now) - Valda Energy, the UK-based energy supplier to the SME business market, on Wednesday announced a three-year energy supply deal with Swiss energy producer and trader Axpo Holding AG.

In addition to selling power to Valda, Axpo will also provide the firm with access to the long and short-term commodity market. This will help Valda Energy manage the risks related to the fluctuating market conditions and guarantee fully hedged fixed-term contracts for its customers.

Axpo's head of UK origination, Steven McCarthy, said the partnership is an important step for Axpo UK as it expands its business-to-business activities. Axpo UK offers risk management, market access, and supply solutions across the energy supply chain.

"We are very pleased to be able to combine Axpo's capability with Valda's experience and new technology, to deliver a market leading proposition," said Valda Energy CEO Steve James. The company, founded in October 2019, says it offers a totally renewable power mix.
