October 14 (Renewables Now) - The Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) for the UK’s Offshore Wind Leasing Round 4 has been issued today, the Crown Estate has announced.

The PQQ will assess the financial capability, technical experience and legal compliance of the potential bidders in order to pre-qualify a number of them for the first stage of the tender.

A ‘Bidders Information Day’ was held last week to give potential participants in the round more information. The materials from the meeting are available at: https://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/media/3368/20191009-osw-r4-bidders-info-day-pm-published.pdf

The latest leasing round is seen to award at least 7 GW of new seabed rights for wind projects in four Seabed Bidding Areas with water depths of up to 60 metres -- Dogger Bank, Eastern Regions, South East, and Northern Wales and Irish Sea. The tender process will take about 12 months to complete. It will be followed by a Plan-level Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA) and the award of the new seabed rights as early as 2021.
