Flughafen Wien plugs in Austria's largest solar park
May 24, 2022 11:33 CESTDecember 30 (Renewables Now) - UK firm FloatWind Ltd today said it will change its name to Vidi Energy as part of a review of its strategy for next year and as it has recognised its approach can be applied to other sectors of the marine energy transition.
The start-up aims to develop technology to standardise the process of bringing floating foundations and wind turbines together.
The company plans to work with investors and industrial partners in 2022 to develop its assembly facility for ready-to-float wind turbines. It is looking to launch in the market in 2023/2024.
Vidi Energy has raised seed funding and targets Series A funding in 2022.
“The name change reflects our core belief that to deliver the transition, floating wind must look beyond current approaches to assembly and adopt standardisation and automation techniques that have lowered costs in other industries,” commented co-founder and chief commercial officer Nele Andersch.
