TransCanada commissions 111-MW wind park in Quebec

(SeeNews) - Nov 6, 2012 - Energy infrastructure company TransCanada Corp (TSE:TRP) on Tuesday announced the commissioning of its 111-MW wind power facility in the province of Quebec.

The Gros-Morne wind project was completed one month earlier than planned. The wind farm can generate enough power to supply over 20,000 households a year.

The Gros-Morne wind park marks the completion of the final phase of TransCanada's Cartier Wind Energy project. Cartier Wind Energy consisted of five phases with a combined capacity of 590 MW. All the electricity generated by the project is purchased by local utility Hydro-Quebec under 20-year power purchase agreements (PPA). TransCanada owns 62% of Cartier Wind Energy, with Innergex Renewable Energy Inc (TSE:INE) holding the rest.
