August 19 (Renewables Now) - Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) has inaugurated a new production line at its Brazilian factory in the Camacari Industrial Hub in Bahia state.
In addition to manufacturing hubs and nacelles, the facility can now assemble turbines and produce converters, the local government announced last week.
SGRE is now the first wind manufacturer in the country with the capacity to produce 100% of its converters. This investment allows Bahia to be ahead of other states in the competition to attract new wind energy projects, the statement says.
The announcement does not mention how much Siemens Gamesa spent on the expansion project.
