to-the-point: Schmid GmbH gets PV machinery order from JA Solar

June 1 (SeeNews) - German photovoltaics (PVs) processing equipment maker Schmid GmbH will deliver next month several machines for texturing and edge isolation to Chinese solar firm JA Solar Holdings (NASDAQ:JASO).

Schmid said on Monday the Chinese company will expand its PV production in Southeast Asia by some 400 MW with the SCHMID systems.

The German company's in-line system combines the edge isolation with the phosphorus silicate glass removal, it explained in a press release. The proprietary edge isolation process enables the production of high-efficiency solar cells, Schmid added.

A week ago, JA Solar said it will build a 500-MW photovoltaic (PV) cell and module plant under a partnership with Indian firm Essel Infraprojects Ltd.
