February 21 (Renewables Now) – The Chilean region of Valparaiso approved on Tuesday the expansion of the 3-MW Ocoa solar photovoltaic (PV) farm developed by local company Andes Solar SA, Chile’s energy ministry said.
The Ocoa 2 farm will add another 6 MW and 17,647 solar panels to the existing plant to bring the total capacity of the complex to 9 MW. The investment will amount to USD 6 million (EUR 5.3m).
Ocoa I was switched on in 2018. It was built by Andes Solar under the Chilean small-scale distributed generation programme, known as PMGD, which regulates schemes of up to 9 MW.
