April 17 (Renewables Now) - UK-based solar power company Solarcentury has sold a majority stake in a 200-MWp solar project portfolio in Spain to an unnamed buyer.

The portfolio in question includes four 50-MWp projects in Alcala de Guadaira in the Spanish region of Seville. Their names are Cerrado Cabrera, El Primo Aleman, Hazas de los Sesenta and Los Gonzalez, and are collectively known as La Cabrera.

Solarcentury Spain will build, operate, manage and part own the four projects, which will not rely on any subsidies. Construction work is expected to start this summer and be completed next year. Together, the four plants will produce enough power to cover the annual consumption of about 105,000 homes in the region.

The UK company has a 5-GW pipeline of solar projects under development around the world, including 1 GW in Spain.
