February 27 (Renewables Now) - US-focused solar installer Solar Alliance Energy Inc (CVE:SOLR) on Thursday said it has installed a 200-kW solar facility at the Maker's Mark Distillery in Kentucky.

Beam Suntory Inc makes bourbon whiskey at the particular distillery, located in Loretto. The power produced by the system will be used to maintain the facilities where bourbon is stored for aging.

The solar installation was built as part of Kentucky Utilities' business solar programme. Solar Alliance partnered on the project with Whayne Supply Company, a dealer for Caterpillar.

Solar Alliance is focusing on Kentucky in an attempt to benefit from the quickly growing solar market there. This is the second project it has worked on under the utility's business solar programme, following a rooftop solar system installed in 2018 for Louisville Gas and Electric Company.
