January 11 (Renewables Now) - Finnish consulting and engineering firm Poyry Plc (HEL:POY1V) said today it has secured an owner's engineer services assignment for a 29-MW photovoltaic (PV) power project in Malaysia.

The order has been awarded by Leader Solar Energy Sdn Bhd, a project company set up by Leader Energy Ltd. It was booked in the second half of 2017.

Poyry will provide services under the contract for a total of eight months. It said it has already completed conceptual design, prepared technical specifications and assisted in selecting the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. The company has also helped with the EPC contract negotiations. Poyry is continuing to provide support in project management, design review and site supervision services.

According to the firm's regional director Petteri Harkki, the solar power plant, located in Kedah, will be one of the first-large scale ground-mounted PV projects in the country.
