November 13 (Renewables Now) -  Indian power group NTPC Ltd (BOM:532555) is seeking proposals for 1.2 GW of interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power capacity in the state of Maharashtra.

The open category projects will be developed on a build-own-operate basis, according to the invitation for bids, published on Saturday. Interested parties will be able to submit proposals by December 19, while the opening of bids is scheduled for December 20.

Developers will have to compete for at least 50 MW of capacity, while the maximum capacity for a single bidder is 600 MW, an unnamed NTPC official told consultancy Mercom Capital. No upper ceiling tariff has been set in the tender.

The selected projects will be located in proximity to NTPC switchyards in the western region of Maharashtra. Winners will be responsible for the design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of the grid-connected projects.
