May 23 (Renewables Now) - US metal products and electrical equipment maker Atkore Inc (NYSE:ATKR) has launched a new manufacturing line at its factory in Phoenix, Arizona, to produce components for solar tracker company Nextracker LLC.

Nextracker said that Atkore expanded and adapted the facility to put a dedicated line to make steel tracker components for use in utility-scale solar farms. The first components to roll off the production line will be used for the 150-MW Agave solar project by Arizona Public Service Co.

"Partnering with Atkore in Phoenix provides product in the epicenter of the Southwest's rapidly growing region from a population and power perspective and ensures that best in class product is available to enable that demand to be served with clean, affordable solar power,” said Nextracker founder and CEO Dan Shugar.

The news follows Nextracker’s recent announcement of a similar component manufacturing partnership with JM Steel in Texas.

“Building out our manufacturing capacity with partners across the U.S. allows us to protect customers from cost volatility, steel supply risk and delays in logistics," added Shugar.
