February 26 (Renewables Now) - Spanish company Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY) announced today it has put into operation a 24-MW wind farm in Spain's region of Aragon.

The Frescano wind farm was completed at a total cost of EUR 25 million (USD 27.1m), the local government said. Located in the municipalities of Zaragoza Borja, Magallon and Agon, the facility consists of seven wind turbines that will be producing about 80 GWh per year, or enough to meet the demand of 30,000 homes.

The wind farm will also avoid around 63,157 tonnes of pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions annually.

Overall, the Aragon region has 3,033 MW of wind and 980 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) parks in operation, and a project pipeline of 5,400 MW.

Recently, Naturgy announced it would soon finish construction of the 26-MW El Tesorillo wind project in the Spanish region of Andalusia.
