March 28 (Renewables Now) - Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas Inc (MHPS) launched this week a renewable energy vehicle named Oriden, described as an organisation aimed at providing customised solutions based upon end-users’ needs.
Oriden will offer services such as development and permitting, construction, financing and ownership, as well as asset management. At first, its activities will revolve around distributed renewable energy solutions, mainly solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems. This will include community solar, behind-the-meter commercial and industrial customers, and distribution level front-of-the-meter projects, MHPS said in a press release.
MHPS explained that the name Oriden was intended to be a wordplay on the English word “origin” and “denki”, the Japanese word for electricity.
The new vehicle will receive the full backing from its Japanese parent, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Ltd while still retaining its independence, MHPS said. Oriden’s offices will be based in Pittsburgh in the US state of Pennsylvania.
