Kosovo's gross power output rises in Q1

PRISTINA (Kosovo), May 17 (SeeNews) – Kosovo's gross power production increased to 1,727.5 GWh in the first quarter of 2018, from 1,162.5 GWh in the fourth quarter of 2017, the national statistical agency said on Thursday.

Thermal power plants produced 1,657.5 GWh of electricity, while hydro power plants generated 70 GWh, the statistical agency said in a statement.

Kosovo imported 119.2 GWh of electricity in January-March period, down from 380.9 GWh in the last quarter of 2017, whereas its exports increased to 106.4 GWh from 90 GWh.

Coal output decreased to 1.98 million tonnes in the first three months of 2018 from 1.72 million tonnes in October-December period of 2017.

Kosovo's power consumption increased 2.8% year-on-year to 1,136.7 GWh in the first quarter, with households having a share of 59.6% in total consumption.
