September 24 (Renewables Now) - Al Husainiyah Power Generation Company has obtained a licence from Jordan’s Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) to build a 50-MW solar park in Ma'an governorate.

The licence allows the company to generate solar power at the specific site for a period of 20 years. The output of the plant will be sold to the National Electricity Company under a power purchase agreement (PPA).

Al Husainiyah Power Generation Co has won the particular project under the direct bidding system through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, according to the announcement.

The commission has now issued five licences tied to 250 MW of solar power generating capacity as part of a second licensing round. The first round granted licences to 13 projects with a combined capacity of 220 MW.
