May 20 (Renewables Now) - Asia Clean Capital Ltd (ACC) has put into operation a 1.4-MW rooftop photovoltaic (PV) plant in China for Husqvarna Zenoah Changzhou Machinery Co, a unit of Swedish outdoor equipment maker Husqvarna (STO:HUSQ-B).

The Hong Kong-based rooftop solar-focused developer was responsible for the financing, design and construction of the solar array and will also take care of its maintenance. Husqvarna, in turn, will buy the generated electricity “at competitive rates,” ACC said on Thursday.

The rooftop PV plant in Jiangsu province is expected to help Husqvarna lift the share of the renewables electricity it uses and thus lower its greenhouse gas emissions. Over its 25-year lifespan, the system is seen to help offset around 28,900 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, saving the use of electricity of 587 families, ACC calculates.
