June 28 (Renewables Now) - Swiss-based Hitachi Energy Ltd, previously Hitachi ABB Power Grids, and energy services company Petrofac Ltd (LON:PFC) announced on Tuesday they will partner to offer grid integration and related infrastructure to the offshore wind market.

The companies said that the collaboration brings together their complementary technologies and expertise – Hitachi Energy’s grid solutions, both high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and high-voltage alternating current (HVAC), and Petrofac’s experience in engineering, procurement, construction and installation for offshore platforms.

According to Niklas Persson, managing director of Hitachi Energy’s Grid Integration business, the partnership will create added value for customers and help accelerate the energy transition.

Petrofac, which has delivered projects for both HVDC and HVAC offshore and onshore substations for offshore wind farms, has recently been expanding its new and renewable energy activities to carbon capture and storage, hydrogen and waste to value projects.
