April 16 (Renewables Now) - Greek renewable power producer Terna Energy SA (ATH:TENERGY) has signed a deal to acquire a 200-MW wind farm in the US state of Texas for USD 310 million (EUR 275m).

Terna Energy did not mention the name of the plant, but said it started commercial operation 15 months ago.

This purchase expands the company’s US portfolio to 493 MW, including a 138-MW wind farm in Elmore County, Idaho and a 155-MW wind park in Scurry County, Texas. At present, it is building another wind power facility in Texas, with a capacity of 158 MW.

Overall, Terna Energy now has 1,232 MW of installed capacity around the world, including 607 MW in Greece and 132 MW in Southeast Europe.

“We are determined to further invest in Europe and the USA, aiming to surpass the target of 2,000 MW,” commented chairman George Peristeris.
