May 22 (Renewables Now) - GE Renewable Energy has repowered a wind turbine fleet totalling 4 GW at 36 different wind farms in the US since 2017, completing the job for eight different customers.

The renewables unit of General Electric Co (NYSE:GE) said Tuesday it expects to repower a further 3 GW at over 25 sites by the end of 2020, with the orders coming from 11 customers.

The company namechecked NextEra Energy Inc (NYSE:NEE), Germany’s E.on SE (ETR:EOAN) and MidAmerican Energy Co as some of the notable customers.

An estimated annual wind repowering investment in the US could reach USD 25 billion (EUR 22.4bn) by 2030, GE said citing data by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
