August 9 (Renewables Now) - Exus Brasil Investimentos, a unit of renewables-focused investor and asset manager Exus Management Partners, has sealed a deal to purchase a 1,058-MW solar portfolio in Brazil.

Exus said today it is acquiring 100% of Riacho da Serra Energia SA, which holds a portfolio of 20 solar projects located in the northeastern state of Piaui. The sellers are energy company Decal Renewables and infrastructure developer Upside Value.

According to the buyer, the development of the solar projects represents an investment of over BRL 3.5 billion (USD 681m/EUR 668m). The project cluster already has the necessary permits to commence construction.

Exus estimates that the project will be completed in two phases, with commercial operation set to start by the second half of 2024. Once up and running, the solar plants should be capable of powering 950,000 homes.
