May 15 (Renewables Now) - US-based renewable energy infrastructure investor Excelsior Energy Capital and Minneapolis-based energy developer Nokomis Partners have joined forces to build and operate a 16.5-MW solar portfolio in Minnesota.

More specifically, Excelsior’s North American Renewable Energy Fund has partnered with Nokomis to implement several ground-mount community solar projects throughout the state. Excelsior will be the long-term owner of the plants and will be selling their output to municipal and commercial customers under the state’s solar community garden programme.

The investor noted it is raising the tax equity, construction and permanent debt financing for the schemes and expects the projects to enter the construction phase this quarter.

The two parties are already working on their next portfolio, the statement adds.
