September 10 (Renewables Now) - Engie Energia Chile SA has signed an agreement to supply 100% renewable power to Chilean bank Banco de Credito e Inversiones SA (BCI).

Under the agreement, the Chilean unit of France’s Engie SA (EPA:ENGI) will supply power to the bank’s six corporate buildings over the next four years. It said the volume would be around 11 GWh per year.

In its 2018 sustainability report, BCI said it had committed to buying electricity from 100% renewable sources as an unregulated customer aiming to become carbon neutral by 2025. The bank has also installed solar panels on four of its corporate buildings.

According to Engie, its agreement with BCI makes the bank the first one in Chile to have a 100% renewable power supply.
