Energuate gets offers for 120 MW of distributed power units - report

(SeeNews) - Dec 9, 2014 - Guatemalan power distributor Energuate has received 18 offers for 120 MW of fuel, hydro, bioenergy and solar units in the first local tender for installation of small-scale distributed generators, daily Prensa Libre said today.

The offers largely exceed the 18 MW which Energuate needs for isolated areas in 11 municipalities. The company will sign 10- and five-year contracts for new and existing plants, respectively, with power supplies due to begin between May 2015 and December 2016.

The company anticipates that distributed generation will expand in different regions after this first tender.

The price offers will be opened on Friday.
