April 18 (Renewables Now) - Enel Brasil signed last week a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of the Brazilian state of Bahia to explore the potential development of green hydrogen projects in Brazil's northeastern state.

Through its renewable energy arm, Enel Green Power Brasil, the power company will work with the Bahia state on conducting technical, commercial, legal and financial feasibility studies into the region's potential for developing a green hydrogen production chain.

The MoU is the first green hydrogen-focused agreement that Enel signed in the country. Its initial time scope is one year but it can be extended, Enel said in the press release.

Potential projects and investments will emerge once the company receives the results of the first stage of feasibility studies, it added.
