January 24 (Renewables Now) - Ireland-based investment manager Conquest Group said on Friday that it has purchased 51% of a portfolio of five wind projects in Belgium totalling 43 MW from energy company Electrabel SA, part of French utility Engie SA (EPA:ENGI).

The wind projects, located in the Flanders Region in northern Belgium, are expected to produce 111 GWh of power a year, enough to meet the needs of about 32,000 local homes. They are expected to start operation in early 2021. The projects are eligible for green certificates for 15 to 20 years under local schemes.

Conquest conducted the deal through its Conquest Sustainable Infrastructure fund. As part of its strategy, the fund invests in risk-adjusted portfolios in Europe.
