May 21 (Renewables Now) - China Huaneng Group has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with the government of Jiangsu province that envisages investing CNY 160 billion (USD 23.15bn/EUR 20.76bn) in a huge offshore wind power industrial base.

The planned complex will integrate both research and development (R&D) and manufacturing capabilities, while also covering the construction, operation and maintenance of offshore wind parks.

The state-owned power company already owns an offshore wind park in Jiangsu province. At the very end of September 2017, it initiated the commercial operation of a 300-MW plant off the coast of Rudong county. The facility consists of 70 turbines of different sizes, including units with capacities of 4 MW, 4.2 MW and 5 MW.
