March 11 (Renewables Now) - Three new solar photovoltaic (PV) projects totalling 215 MW received last week the green light from the Environmental Assessment Commission (CEA) of the Chilean region of Antofagasta, local newspaper El Mercurio reported on Monday.

Acciona SA (BME:ANA) will develop the 64-MW Usya PV park, Victoria Solar SpA will be in charge of the 9-MW Verano de San Juan I, while Ireland-based firm Mainstream Renewable Power will carry out the 142-MW Pampa Tigre project.

The combined investment reaches USD 203 million (EUR 180.5m). The employment generation potential of the three projects is estimated at 1,048 of new positions during the construction phase.

The Antofagasta region currently has a portfolio of 75 renewable energy projects in various stages of development, El Mercurio said citing the regional energy ministry.
