Cemig to hold auction for wind, solar power contracts in Sept

July 23 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian utility Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais SA (BVMF:CMIG4), better known as Cemig, plans to hold an energy auction on September 13, 2019 to contract wind and solar power.

Cemig did not disclose the specific amount of energy it is seeking but stated in the tender notice that the new capacity will be used to meet demand in the Southeast, Midwest, South and Northeast markets.

The company will award power purchase agreements (PPA) through its subsidiary Cemig GT. Power supply is set to start on January 1, 2023 and end on December 31, 2041 for both sources. The tender is open to companies that fulfil certain conditions, such as having an installed capacity of at least 1 GW.
