April 16 (Renewables Now) - BioEnGas, a startup created by Spanish gas grid operator Enagas SA (BME:ENG), and Barcelona-based investment manager Suma Capital SGEIC SA have signed an agreement to jointly invest in the development of biogas projects in Spain.

Enagas said Monday that the partners’ aim was to develop and build several plants to produce biogas from waste using innovative technologies. Currently, more than ten projects in different locations are being analysed, and construction of some of them could begin in the coming months.

BioEnGas was created under the umbrella of Enagas’ innovation and entrepreneurship programme which was designed to promote new business projects in the energy sector and apply disruptive technologies in the current energy transition environment, the gas company said.
