June 21 (SeeNews) - California-based solar technology firm Solaria Corp and Japanese glass producer Asahi Glass Co Ltd (TYO:5201), or AGC, are launching a new building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solution for the Japanese and South East Asian markets.

The Japanese company will be incorporating Solaria’s BIPV technology into its windows and building facades. The new product will be called Sudare powered-by-Solaria, the pair said today.

A first commercial project using the new product has been completed in December 2015, involving the installation of 24 BIPV modules totalling 3.7 kW. The project demonstrates the energy generation potential of the modules and the benefits of enhanced thermal performance, and glare and daylight control.

AGC has carried out tests, completed a certification process and strategically ramped up its supply chain over the last year in order to prepare for the introduction of the new solution.
